What do I need to apply as a freelance photojournalist at Alto Press?
You need a strong portfolio showing your experience. You further need to answer the questions on the application page.

Do I need a CV to apply to Alto Press?
No, a CV is not needed, but we are interested in some of your experience as photographer and photojournalist.
I am a student of photography can I apply?
Yes, sure. We are very interested in young and talented photojournalists.
Do I need to have my own gear?
Yes, you need your own gear. We will not give you any gear.
I applied and didn’t receive an answer. What can I do?
If your application included your portfolio and you answered all of the questions, please feel free to contact us after two weeks if you haven't heard from us.
If you didn’t send your portfolio and/or didn’t answer the questions, you can do it now. You’ll be taken in consideration from now on.
I don’t have a camera nor a laptop. Can I apply?
To work with Alto Press you need a camera and lenses. You also need a computer do edit and caption your images.
Do I need to speak German?
No, you don’t, but it could help. You need to be able to speak English very well (at least B2).
What is the minimum number of stories or photos in the portfolio?
There isn't a strict minimum, but to show your work, you better send us at least 1 or 2 stories or alternatively at least 10 photos.
I only have product photos in my portfolio. Is that enough?
To judge your documentary photos, you'd better show us documentary photos. Product photos usually aren't enough to see if you're capable to do photojournalism.
I didn't understand a question on the application site. What can I do?
Be honest and tell us that you didn't understand it. We will explain the question.
In what language do I have to apply?
You have to apply either in German, English, Italian or French.
